De afdeling De afdeling R&D werkt in de drie markt segmenten Baggage, Distribution en Parcel & Postal. Het Competence Team Mechanisch bestaat uit Mechanische Design engineers en is verantwoordelijk voor zowel het aanbieden van Mechanische Resources aan de R&D organisatie van Design engineer tot Lead engineer en het bewaken van de kwaliteit, evenals het optimaliseren van deze processen. Dit maakt de afdeling erg dynamisch. De functie Als Mechanical Development Engineer maak je deel uit van het Competence Team Mechanisch en wordt je op project-basis wisselend ingezet binnen één van de drie marktsegmenten (Baggage, Distribution en Parcel & Postal) De belangrijkste taken van deze marksegmenten zijn: · Het uitvoeren van feasibilitie studies (Product of technologie voorstellen en mogelijkheden), · Ontwikkeling van nieuwe producten · Het onderhouden van het bestaande product portfolio (Product Life cycle Support) Binnen deze taken ontwerp je zelfstandig een technische oplossing en werk je dit uit tot een goed functionerend product. Hierbij is het uitvoerig testen van de oplossing een belangrijk onderdeel voordat het in het (sub)systeem wordt geïmplementeerd. Tijdens het doorlopen van het ontwerpproces, overleg je regelmatig met je collegas en de projectleider. Mede dankzij jouw analyserend vermogen, creativiteit, doorzettingsvermogen en ondernemerschap lukt het je telkens weer om de bestaande problemen op te lossen. Daarnaast behoort het in opdrachtvorm uitwerken van een productspecial voor de afdeling Operations ook tot de mogelijke werkzaamheden.

| Mechanical Engineer Banen General description The Mechanical Engineer works within the Mechanical Group. Job objectives To ensure and provide the best possible discipline related service and support in the interest of the development of the project, considering the requirements stipulated by the Managing Director and the Executive Committee, Management System, the OHSE policy and applicable legislation, such to the conscious use of resources, the environment and the prosperity and growth of the company. With sufficient experience and knowledge gained (in depth or general) and proven capability in the field, the Mechanical Engineer can expect to obtain the title of Senior Mechanical Engineer. Reporting lines The Mechanical Engineer reports directly to the Lead Engineer Mechanical. While working on specific projects, he/she will also report to the respective Project Manager. General responsibilities Conduct all activities and tasks in accordance with the company`s corporate objectives; Familiarise with and comply to the company`s corporate management system (CMS); Give support on mechanical engineering related matters including marine systems, hull systems, cranes and any other mechanical systems on board; Be aware of own role and responsibilities regarding quality of product and/or service; Execute given assignments in accordance with procedures of management system. Submit personal timesheets into the RTR/(Web)Solo system for approval on a weekly basis; Ensure all personal documentation is up-to-date and valid, such as passport, seaman's booklet, medical certificate and offshore survival certificate. Job specific tasks Analyse project specifications on mechanical design related items; Prepare the necessary calculations, analyses and designs and related reports within the scope, budget and schedule defined at the start of the project. These could vary from hand calculations to calculations; using spreadsheets and dedicated (simulation) software; Main emphasis should be to minimise fabrication costs and vessel time; Provide adequate information and direction to the drawing office for preparations of drawings; Prepare MTOs, equipment lists, specifications, etc.; Inform the Lead Engineer Mechanical about the progress of the work on a regular basis; Performing (inter)discipline checks on reports and drawings (IDC); Maintain a complete file of all performed work; Attend organised induction training of OHSE system and components; Inform manager in case procedures collide with actual working practise; Perform tasks as appointed to by manager; Update and supply the appropriate registrations, as communicated through manager.
