The incumbent will monitor, review and interpret the regional regulations in order to maintain compliance in the context of ongoing operations. The position will manage the preparation and submission of applications import and export licenses, customs / classification rulings, advisory opinions, customer approvals, technical assistance agreements and other related government submissions and/or documentation for the European region. Effectively communicates the trade compliance program requirements to appropriate individuals while managing the internal training and audit program. Although the primary focus is on the European region, this position is part of Crocs’ Global Trade & Compliance Department and as such will be involved in global efforts to develop and maintain a ’best-in-industry’ Global Trade & Compliance Program. European Trade & Compliance Manager (Rotterdam/Den Haag, 40 uur per week) Duties and responsibilities • Reviewing initial controls and general compliance related to cross-border transactions. • Be first point of contact for country regulatory inquiries and communication with government offices for routine items and directs non routine inquiries appropriately. • Assist in controversies with governmental agencies; overseeing Customs audits, investigations or other potential or developing disagreements over Customs matters. • Initiate and assist with the development and maintenance of global/regional tax/duty reduction programs. • Audit import and export filings; resolve discrepancies, request appropriate corrections, reconcile or protest as appropriate; verify valuation methodology including additions and subtractions such as assists and royalties. • Take ownership for setting-up and maintaining regional supply chain security programs and assist with global initiatives. • Determination of trade data such as: HTS, Country of Origin, import/export documentation requirements and valuation of products. • Interface with internal and external customers/vendors, freight forwarders/customs brokers, government agencies and other functional areas to ensure coordination of imports and exports. • Guide and train facilities in the development, implementation, and maintenance of trade compliance management systems, policies, procedures and work instructions. • Monitor and ensure compliance with export regulations (including sanctioned party screening). • Ensure employee understanding of legal regulations and principles relative to the import and export of products through communications and training. • Keep abreast of changes in trade regulations to ensure company compliance. European Trade & Compliance Manager (Rotterdam/Den Haag, 40 uur per week) Duties and responsibilities • Reviewing initial controls and general compliance related to cross-border transactions. • Be first point of contact for country regulatory inquiries and communication with government offices for routine items and directs non routine inquiries appropriately. • Assist in controversies with governmental agencies; overseeing Customs audits, investigations or other potential or developing disagreements over Customs matters. • Initiate and assist with the development and maintenance of global/regional tax/duty reduction programs. • Audit import and export filings; resolve discrepancies, request appropriate corrections, reconcile or protest as appropriate; verify valuation methodology including additions and subtractions such as assists and royalties. • Take ownership for setting-up and maintaining regional supply chain security programs and assist with global initiatives. • Determination of trade data such as: HTS, Country of Origin, import/export documentation requirements and valuation of products. • Interface with internal and external customers/vendors, freight forwarders/customs brokers, government agencies and other functional areas to ensure coordination of imports and exports. • Guide and train facilities in the development, implementation, and maintenance of trade compliance management systems, policies, procedures and work instructions. • Monitor and ensure compliance with export regulations (including sanctioned party screening). • Ensure employee understanding of legal regulations and principles relative to the import and export of products through communications and training. • Keep abreast of changes in trade regulations to ensure company compliance. Profile • Bachelor’s degree with 3 – 6 years experience in import and export compliance. • Thorough knowledge of and experience with European import and export regulations. • Experience with automated trade compliance software systems for transaction screens is essential. • Experience in analyzing and applying regulations to various import and export business processes and functions is required. • The proven ability to prepare and obtain commodity jurisdictions, export licenses, technical assistance agreements is mandatory for this position. • Technical expertise in trade (import and export) regulations, classifications, valuation, country of origin, duty preference programs and suspension regimes, sanctioned party screening and trade restrictions (boycotts). • Broad business acumen with strong emphasis on leadership and teamwork is required. • Excellent analytical and organization skills including ability to collect, structure, analyze and communicate data. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English & Dutch). • Strong computer skills. • A pro-active self-starter who is able to work independently. • Ability and desire to work in highly dynamic and changing environment. • Ability to travel What do we offer? • A good salary, depending on experience and education • A 40 hour workweek • An informal and international work environment • 25 holiday days per calendar year (based on a full time contract) • 8% holiday allowance per year • Good commuter expense reimbursement Description of the company A world leader in innovative casual footwear for men, women and children, Crocs, Inc.
