The primary activity of STC Geleen is to define and to work out research projects aimed at the optimization of existing petrochemical processes and products as well as the development of new innovative and sustainable solutions. Our Materials Development department has an opening for a polymer materials development engineer. The Challenge As a polymer materials development engineer you will be working in a very professional and global Technology & Innovation organization. Your tasks and responsibilities include: Optimizing existing portfolio, developing new innovative products, assisting our manufacturing organization and our marketing organization in bringing products to market, and our clients in processing those products. Addressing new product concepts as well as related emerging areas, targeting a continuous innovation and improved sustainability of our portfolio in the market. Translating functional market application requirements via product specifications into molecular structure/morphology, integrating relevant state-of-the-art expertise in the fields of for instance rheology, fracture mechanics, polymer processing and analytical methods. Your Profile You are educated to master or Ph.D level in chemistry or materials science and you have affinity with polymeric materials. You have well developed social skills. You are a critical observer as well as a conceptual and analytical thinker. You are able to acquire sufficient skills in: the analytical field, rheology, mechanical properties, formulation, compounding, reactive extrusion, processing technologies and application development. You are able to acquire sufficient skills in statistical experimentation and data analysis methods. You are able to spot creative opportunities for improving existing processes and you are able to keep abreast of the state of the art in material development and gain knowledge of associated fields and disciplines. You have a persevering and challenging attitude towards your work environment, but you can also accept other views. You can work in a team as well as independently. Polymer Extrusion Process Development Engineer

Our Technology Development department has an opening for an experienced Polymer Extrusion Process Development Engineer. The Challenge You will be working in the Technology Development department of SABIC Technology Center Geleen as part of the professional and international Technology & Innovation organization. Your tasks and responsibilities are: To improve product performance in terms of output, quality, consistency and costs by the application of your knowledge in polyolefin extrusion processes. To work in a multidisciplinary setting, both within Technology & Innovation -where you will collaborate with different disciplines- and in the business and manufacturing environment where project approval and implementation needs to be secured. To provide extrusion expertise to product and process development projects: to effectively define goals and priorities; to define experimental programs and identify the activities and resources needed to achieve these goals. To develop and communicate a vision of new developments in extrusion process technology. Your Profile You are educated to university master level in polymer or chemical technology. You have process development work experience in the field of polymer extrusion technology, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial R&D organization. You are a critical observer as well as a conceptual and analytical thinker. You are able to spot opportunities for existing and new processes and products and translate these into business terms. You are able to present your project proposals and results in a convincing manner to both business and manufacturing management. You have preferably experience in extrusion engineering, kinetic modeling, design and operation of extruders and the use of computational engineering tools. You are able to keep abreast of the state of the art in your field and gain knowledge of associated fields and disciplines. You are a team player but you are also able to work independently on your contribution. You have a persevering and challenging attitude towards your work environment, but you can also accept other views. You are fluent in oral and written English.
