Essential Responsibilities The Regional Statutory Reporting Leader will have functional responsibility for the delivery of statutory reporting services in GBS Europe. The role will report directly to the GBS Global Statutory Reporting Leader and will work equally closely with the regional general leaders, the center leaders, statutory reporting managers and various GE businesses in the countries in the region. The Regional Statutory Reporting Leader is expected to drive standard, high-quality processes across the GBS centers while effectively managing in a matrix environment where the in-country statutory resources responsible for preparing statutory filings are not owned by the functional statutory organization, but rather by our GBS regional teams. The Statutory Leader will partner with GE businesses across Europe to provide critical business process and financial accounting services support in the areas of end to end financial accounting support, accounts payable services, end to end management of payroll and other HR services, travel expense management and control and emerging business needs in the areas of compliance and controllership like customs and tax services. Core responsibilities include: Monitor the Environment -Develop solid relationships with key GBS constituents, including the regional GM, center leaders and country statutory leaders, Corporate Tax, and business operating and tax Controllers ; -Monitor and assess the impact from regulatory changes in the area of Stat, Tax and VAT on our Statutory Programs and build a relationship with the different regulatory bodies as well as our service providers (e.g. KPMG) ; Execute on Key Improvements Develop a plan to realize the GBS vision of upgrading talent in our regional and country statutory leader roles and making them highly desirable and valued pillar jobs ; Establish standards for technical proficiency throughout the statutory organization with quantifiable metrics to ensure continuous quality improvement in the team ; Establish training requirements and ensure continuing professional education in country-specific accounting principles ; Assess existing process standards and metrics and enhance their effectiveness. Drive continuous improvement in key existing (timeliness of filings and S2G completion) and enhanced (quality of filings) metrics ; Run and Enhance Existing Statutory Programs Lead the GEII/GEIOC Financials to Filings (F2F) initiative, completing implementations and measure effectiveness of the process in countries that have already implemented F2F and partner with Corporate Accounting to implement F2F for all in-scoped countries where statutory reporting work is done by GBS for GE business customers ; Ensure the necessary technical and operational resources are in place to fully and effectively carry out GBS' STIR mandate (100% STIR penetration globally) starting in 2012 and continuing thereafter ; Prepare and present the strategic and financial plans for the regional statutory organization in comprehensive Growth Playbook and Session II reviews ; Play a key role in GBS' One Back Office (OBO) initiative for Europe. Qualifications/Requirements Technical Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting from an accredited university or college ;Certified Public Accountant /Chartered Accountant or Graduate degree in Business Administration ; Technical proficiency in US GAAP and IFRS ; Operational Broad operational controllership experience including dealing with the operational aspects of statutory account preparation, consolidations etc. ;Previous GE experience and/or exposure to the GEII branch within GE a distinct advantage ; Strong PC skills including MS Excel, MS Power point, and MS Project ; Interpersonal Build constructive relationships and work well in a fast paced matrix environment ;Strong project management skills and can deliver to tight deadlines ;Excellent presentation and communication skills ; Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting from an accredited university or college 5+ years experience in broad-based finance or operational Controllership capacity, including management of geographically dispersed teams in matrix organizational environments At least 5 years of statutory accounting and reporting experience, including technical proficiency (IFRS preferred) and management of a statutory team/COE Extensive knowledge of finance and accounting processes, including the ability to analyze data, structures, and relationships required to access accuracy and completion of consolidated legal entity or branch financial statements Demonstrated ability to multi-task, perform in a fast-paced matrix organization and respond quickly to changing priorities as they arise Ability to travel 25% (non-U.S.)Ability to work well under pressure and deliver results Strong interpersonal and communication skillsExperience with data analytics Self-starter with a commitment to delivering on deadlinesStrong PC skills including MS Excel, MS Power point, and MS Project Desired Characteristics Certified Public Accountant /Chartered Accountant or Graduate degree in Business Administration Six Sigma training In-depth understanding of GEII branch functionality Experience in a shared services finance organization (customer focus required in delivering finance and accounting services)Financial accounting IT systems experience Ability to apply and reconcile U.S. GAAP and IFRS accounting principles
