The primary activity of STC Geleen is to define and to work out research projects aimed at the optimization of existing petrochemical processes and products and development of new ones. Our Chemistry and Catalysis Development department has team members from Geleen and Wilton locations. The Challenge As a Lead or Staff Scientist you will be working in a very professional Technology & Innovation organization. Your tasks and responsibilities include: To work out options to improve the production process and product performance in terms of quality, consistency and costs; To work in a multidisciplinary setting, both within Technology & Innovation (T&I disciplines) and in the business environment (business disciplines); To work closely with colleagues in SABIC Manufacturing to help optimise plant operation, understand the causes of fouling, catalyst failure or any liquid cracking chemistry related problems and identify workable process improvement opportunities; To co-ordinate tasks by effectively defining goals and priorities and identifying activities and resources needed to achieve these goals. Your Profile You are educated to a PhD level (Technical University: focus on physical /organic /industrial chemistry) and several years of related work experience (min 5) in organic & applied chemistry on an industrial scale. Your experience preferably in liquid cracking chemistry or Fouling area. You are able to utilize this knowledge into a petrochemical industry setting. You are interested in the application and development of analytical techniques such as gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, optical spectrometry and NMR. You have well developed social skills. You are a critical observer as well as a good analytical thinker. You are able to spot opportunities for improving existing processes and you are able to keep abreast with the state of the art in chemistry and gain knowledge of associated fields and disciplines. Sector Information: The Sources and Dose Control department is part of the EUV development and engineering. Its task is to develop, deliver, integrate and qualify functional modules & machine/customer applications on spec, within time and budget in the area of EUV (Extreme Ultra Violet) Technology. Position in the Organization: The holder of the position reports to the group Chemical Contamination Control & Materials and is operational within multidisciplinary projects. This group is responsible for optimizing the scanner performance by providing the means and methods to prevent, detect, analyze, predict and eliminate molecular contamination sources in the scanner. Furthermore, this group should ensure that the design of the tools will guarantee an appropriate optics lifetime and the group should ensure a material selection compatible with its application area. Job Mission: Candidate is responsible for specifying the requirements with respect to materials and scanner contamination risk. Furthermore the candidate is responsible for proper execution of the requirements. Finally it is his/her responsibility to ensure proper qualification of systems with respect to materials usage and cleanliness. Focus area is verification of material choices with respect to ROHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances, Directive of the European Union). they want to assure the ROHS compliancy of all applied materials and surface treatments used by the client and by its supply chain. In case of non-ROHS-compliancy the candidate should find an alternative that meets all other requirements. Job Description: Responsible for specification, selection and qualification of materials. Has knowledge on material characterization Has specifically knowledge on the consequences of ROHS regulations on material and surface treatments. Supports the specification of the necessary cleanliness(molecular or particle) within (part of) the system, in order to achieve the desired functionality. Is responsible for the proper documentation of specifications, supporting calculations, and tests. Provides means and methods to verify the specifications and performs the tests. Has knowledge of detecting, mimicking and controlling contamination and if needed designs tools for above mentioned purposes. Achieves results by literature search, experimental testing or supervision of external research activities.
