About the company Since 2009 Nuon is part of Vattenfall. Vattenfall is Europe's fifth largest electricity generator and the largest generator of heat. We operate in Sweden, Germany and The Netherlands (core countries) as well as UK, Denmark and Poland. The Gas Competence Centre (based in Amsterdam) is responsible for developing gas strategy, senior management memos and cross-business gas projects within the Vattenfall Group. We are now looking for an Intern Gas Strategy (general or thesis) General An internship with Nuon/Vattenfall is both diverse and highly business oriented, while maintaining a good balance between your learning objectives and practical relevance. You will be considered a real team member and you will receive excellent guidance during your internship. Project As an intern you will investigate the effects of global and regional gas market dynamics (such as economic and political factors in Russia, Asia and the Middle East) on gas markets and gas prices over the next few decades. As Vattenfall's core markets are situated in North West Europe, you will focus on the effects on the Netherlands and other countries from this region. - Some of the task you can expect are - Perform in-depth analysis and modelling. - Document and summarize thoughts within the Gas Competence Centre and liaise with other relevant departments. - Analysis of reports and datasets, and extract key findings. - Writing final reports. - Presenting preliminary and final results to a relevant audience within Nuon/Vattenfall. - In addition to your own project, you will participate in other exciting projects of the Gas Competence Centre. Who are we looking for - You have strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. - You have a relevant academic degree in business or a technical field (Bsc or Msc). - You are interested in either strategy or gas (preferably both) - Strong IT Skills: Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and PowerPoint - Fluency in English both in writing and speaking. - You are available from 1 December 2011 or 1 January 2012 - You are available for at least 4 days a week Our offer We offer a challenging internship within an international team. Internship SNS ASSET Management ESG Issues Are you ready for a challenging internship at SNS ASSET Management? Are you eager to deal with environmental, social and governance issues? We offer you the opportunity to develop yourself as an Assistant ESG-Analyst. If you are enthusiastic and result driven, you might be the perfect match for this role. About the position Your responsibility is to analyse firms and sectors on the basis of ‘environmental, social and governance (ESG)’ criteria, following our proprietary ESG-research process. Conducting high-quality sector- and company analyses, summarising findings in professional reports is key. The aim is to select firms that are eligible for investment, with a focus on small- and midcap companies. You may also support the team with other ad-hoc tasks or with smaller projects that can be rather diverse. In your role as an Assistant ESG-Analyst you will report to the Head of ESG-research; on a daily basis, you will often be functionally coached by our Sr. ESG-Analysts. What you’ll need Your academic study should relate to investments (like Finance & Investments, Investment Analysis, Investment Management) or economics and/or ESG-related studies (e.g. development economics, environmental economics, social geography etc.). Within Group Finance Services, the Division that is globally responsible for all Finance functions within the RBS Group, a project has been initiated by Group Tax (International Tax team) and Group Recharging and Settlements: SLA Transfer Pricing. Transfer Pricing (TP) is the process that is used within the Bank to distribute costs amongst various branches and subsidiaries of the Group across the Globe. These costs can consist of Head-Office charges, shared service center charges, product development, central purchasing and other cost items that are centrally incurred and locally benefited from. Within the group, these charges exceed GBP 500m per annum. Transfer Pricing is strictly governed by all applicable international and local regulators, as there could be serious Compliance, Control and Tax implications. The SLA Transfer Pricing project has the objective to ensure that all intercompany TP transactions are covered by fit-for-purpose, standardized agreements (SLA’s), that these agreements are stored in a central repository and reviewed on a regular basis. The Project team consists of 5-7 core staff, located in Amsterdam and in Edinburgh, complemented by incidental support from various other departments. The project operates in an area where Finance, Tax and Legal expertise come together, and the Global scope requires the project to interact with literally 40 in-country stakeholders, as well as a dozen Divisions and Service Centers across the Globe. Your role as a project Intern would be to assist the Project Manager and the Project Staff in their day-to-day operations, ranging from Project Management Support (managing meetings and documentation) to preparing status reports to the stakeholder meeting (PIB), or representing the project in meetings. Also, in project meetings and workshops, you would be asked to provide an outsider view on the strategic issues and solutions we seek witin the project. A major part of the project's workload is the setting up guidelines and templates for the Legal Documents, as well as supporting the Divisions in completing the documents for their areas. You will assist and coordinate these processes. All team members have responsibility for one or more ‘streams’ in the project, for instance for the analysis and standardization phase in one of our Group’s divisions, and as an Intern you could develop yourself to ultimately take up one of these streams yourself. Available for an 3-6 months internship. Internship would have an operational character, however the requirement to write a full report or do a (limited scope) investigation would be considered Educational level: Bachelor, HBO or Master (studying) Preferred discipline: Business Economics, Law, MER Previous work experience preferred, although not strictly required General level of proficiency with Office tools (Word, Excel, Access is a bonus) Personality: open, eager to learn, speak your mind, eager to work, consistent and consciencious Languages: Full proficiency in English is required, Dutch not required, any other language is a bonus.
