Als Engineer Research and Development ben je voornamelijk verantwoordelijk voor het leveren van bijdragen aan voorstudies, haalbaarheidsonderzoeken, projectvoortgang en verbetering van werkmethoden en processen. Ook het zelfstandig ontwerpen van klantspecifieke processen en producten op het gebied van composieten behoren tot je werkzaamheden. In deze functie leg je verantwoording af en rapporteer je aan de Technical Manager. Je kerntaken: - Het bedenken van nieuwe en creatieve technische concepten; - Opstellen van handleidingen/manuals; - Technisch aanspreekpunt bij prototypebouw, testen en inbedrijfstelling van de gerealiseerde ontwerpen; - Je ondersteunt de commerciële afdelingen, ook met betrekking tot het aanbieden van voorstudies; - Vanuit je expertise en ervaring bedenk je oplossingen in het verbeteren van bestaande machines en nieuw te ontwikkelen machines; - Je kan betrokken worden bij de implementatie en inbedrijfstelling, zowel intern als ook in het binnen- en buitenland.

In this position you will be responsible for the development and implementation of new aluminum products. This includes, for example, the new development and improvement of alloys with the help of experimental tests and theoretical simulations. A further objective of the role is to improve the existing manufacturing processes and develop of the production sequence and product applications. You will be responsible for reports and documentation of tests and experiments and be a key member of a team developing high class products. You will work in close cooperation with research and development engineers in the rolling, pressing, and recycling operations as well as with universities and external partners. Furthermore, you will act as a representative of the company towards clients and other stakeholders. In this position you will report directly to the Head of Research and Development.

De belangrijkste taken en verantwoordelijkheden van de senior development engineer zijn: Vertalen van offerte aanvragen naar concepten van speciaal machine concepten. Bepalen en begroten van de risicos, de planning en de kostprijs van concepten. Aanvragen van offertes voor koopdelen of diensten. Aantonen haalbaarheid via opstellen en analyseren van tijddiagrammen, tolerantiebudgetten en berekeningen. Tijdens het realisatie traject blijft de senior development engineer technisch eindverantwoordelijk voor het (concept) ontwerp. Je werkt in projectteams met collegas van verschillende disciplines aan vraagstukken op het gebied van research development.

The Challenge As a polymer materials development engineer you will be working in a very professional and global Technology & Innovation organization. Your tasks and responsibilities include: Optimizing existing portfolio, developing new innovative products, assisting our manufacturing organization and our marketing organization in bringing products to market, and our clients in processing those products. Translating functional market application requirements via product specifications into molecular structure/morphology, integrating relevant state-of-the-art expertise in the fields of for instance rheology, fracture mechanics, polymer processing and analytical methods. Your Profile You are educated to master or Ph.D level in chemistry or materials science and you have affinity with polymeric materials. You have well developed social skills. You are a critical observer as well as a conceptual and analytical thinker. You are able to acquire sufficient skills in: the analytical field, rheology, mechanical properties, formulation, compounding, reactive extrusion, processing technologies and application development. You are able to acquire sufficient skills in statistical experimentation and data analysis methods. You are able to spot creative opportunities for improving existing processes and you are able to keep abreast of the state of the art in material development and gain knowledge of associated fields and disciplines. You have a persevering and challenging attitude towards your work environment, but you can also accept other views. You can work in a team as well as independently.
